Agent Pets vs Claude Code agent view

Updated 22 October 2026

Claude Code’s agent view (claude agents, a research preview) is a built-in terminal dashboard for your background Claude Code sessions. Agent Pets is a Chrome extension that turns every Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode and omp session into a pet walking along the bottom of the page you’re on. One lives in the terminal, the other in the browser, and they work well side by side.

Using both together

Use agent view as your desk in the terminal: start background work, read summaries, attach when you want to dig in. Use Agent Pets for when you’ve wandered into Chrome: the pets tell you who’s thinking, who’s done and who needs approval, and let you Allow or reply without coming back. When you do come back, agent view is still there.

Questions

What is Claude Code agent view?

A built-in terminal dashboard, opened with claude agents, that lists your background Claude Code sessions grouped Needs input, Working and Completed. It’s a research preview and free with Claude Code.

Can I approve permission prompts from agent view?

Not from the peek: replies there don’t answer permission prompts, so you attach to the session with Enter and answer it there.

Does agent view notify me when a session needs input?

Only for background sessions, and only while agent view is open.

Does Agent Pets replace agent view?

No. Agent Pets is for when you’re in the browser; agent view is for the terminal. Agent Pets also covers Codex, OpenCode and omp, which agent view doesn’t.
